Friday 1st June 2018

The day I cut stuff apart (well around to H&S I'm not allowed to touch but I watched)

Porosity

Today I got all the pervious samples cut in half, this was a really interesting experience with some of the samples proving harder to cut than others (the ones with the rounded stones proved to be particularly difficult but the blade didn't get broken....)

I spent the rest of the day photographing the samples and will upload some of the sheets, once they have been produced(I'm going to look at the closed and opened structure).

So here is some of the magic ..........

Its sad how much in love I am with the aggregates in the concrete but just feast your eyes on them.....

Next stage is to test the porosity by pouring water onto the samples and seeing how quickly they drain, this will be done with videos and by eye( I will upload this tomorrow).
This will give one mix to move forward with; one mix to rule them all ?

These will then be developed further when the waste streams come in, I have run out of eggshells, I'm having first world problems.....

Growth experiments SAP

The growth experiments that were started last week didn't seem to be going to plan.

But what did I learn...

The SAP seems to dissolve when left out in the open air... not sure why or how this happened?
I did find another recipe that I could use and is used for growing plants(I have requested samples)

The samples in the propagator have started to grow but not as much as I had hope, I'm going to replant some more seeds in the propagator and test again. But we do have grass growth wooo hoo mini victories !!!!!

The transplanted plants have not done well, I think that a rooting powder could be tried next and I have also contacted another company about rooting systems...
