Ambitions:
To understand the growth of plants/ microbs on the surface of concrete and what can be achieved.
Line of enquiry:
Questions that need to be answered/understood;
Test growth on concrete – what can be grown, what conditions are needed and how long does it take?
How does the surface design effect growth patterns/what can grow?
What does this do to the concrete strength?
Does this effect durability?
Do the waste streams in the concrete effect growth?
How does the angel of the panel effect the growth?
How they will be conducted:
They samples will be placed in the chamber for a period of between 2-6 weeks.
They will be rotated every three days to keep the growth even within the chamber.
They will constantly be monitored/filmed if possible using a go pro.
What needs to be added to the chamber & how will it be done:
Lights will be added to the inside of the chamber by installing UVA/UVB bulbs that are used within fish tanks as these will be resistant to water and heat.
They will be attached to the surface of the chamber using industrial strength Velcro.
